Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia welcomes Ampersand Estates

Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia (UWEA) has welcomed Ampersand
Estates in Western Australia as its newest member, expanding the
collective into the Pemberton Wine Region south of Perth. The 56-hectare
property sits 30 minutes north of Pemberton and 45 minutes east of
Margaret River, about a three-hour drive from Perth. It is also
accessible via Busselton–Margaret River Airport, with optional VIP
helicopter transfers landing directly at the estate.
Set beside the Donnelly River and surrounded by karri forests, dunes,
truffle country and dramatic coastlines, Ampersand Estates positions
itself as both a nature destination and a premium wine and spirits
producer. Its lakeside cellar door offers guided tastings of Ampersand
wines and gourmet picnics featuring local produce.
A key feature is the onsite Rainfall Distillery, producing artisanal gin
and vodka made from estate-grown chardonnay and harvested rainwater.
Opening next month, the Rainfall Distillery Gardens will house over
2,100 plants across 36 species in a closed-loop, single-estate system
supported by beehives and sustainable farming.
The estate offers three luxury accommodations: the two-bedroom Settlers’
Cottage, the five-bedroom Vintner’s Residence, and a five-bedroom
Homestead, all with refined interiors, full kitchens, outdoor spaces,
and locally sourced breakfast hampers.
Its signature Ultimate Winery Experience — A Marriage of Luxury & Nature
(from A$3,145 for up to four guests) — includes an overnight stay,
private wine tastings, and a four-course open-fire degustation prepared
by a Michelin-trained chef. For day visitors, the A$180pp Terroir
Tasting Experience combines botanical foraging in the Distillery Gardens
with spirit and wine tastings paired with local charcuterie.
UWEA leaders describe Ampersand as a distinctive blend of luxury,
sustainability, and deep connection to place. It becomes Western
Australia’s fifth Ultimate Winery, joining Vasse Felix, Leeuwin Estate,
Voyager Estate, and Mandoon Estate.

About Jack’s Place
Established in 1966, Jack’s Place is the trusted favourite known for its
Western food. It all started when Mr. Say Lip Hai arrived in Singapore
from Hainan Island and started as a cook boy with the British troops in
Sembawang. There he learned how to prepare the perfect roast beef and
Yorkshire pudding.
Having tasted one of Mr Say’s now famous meals, a British housewife
suggested he start a catering business with her husband, Jack Hunt, in
his pub at Killiney Road, Jack’s Place, which he started in 1966. Mr Say
agreed and commenced that partnership in 1968. Shortly afterwards, Jack
Hunt sold his share of the business, but his namesake ‘Jack the Chef’
still runs the kitchen today!
Today, Jack’s Place is the trusted favourite for family and friends to
enjoy great value sizzling steaks, speciality meals, and sumptuous
cakes. Jack’s Place is committed to serving quality food and creating
memorable dining experiences in a cheerful and cosy environment for our
guests.

Parrtjima Festival Unveils Extraordinary Full Program

Parrtjima, the award-winning Aboriginal-led light festival, will return to Mparntwe (Alice Springs) from 10–19 April for its 11th edition. Held on Arrernte Country against the dramatic backdrop of the Tjoritja/MacDonnell Ranges,
the free festival celebrates the world’s oldest living culture through
large-scale light installations, performances, workshops, storytelling,
and cultural demonstrations.
The 2026 festival will revolve around the theme “Language,”
highlighting the role of language as a living cultural expression that
carries stories, identity, and knowledge across generations. Visitors
will experience the Red Centre through immersive light displays and
creative programming that bring Aboriginal culture to life using modern
technology. The event will feature works by more than 36 First Nations artists and include over 50 performers and speakers participating in music, dance, talks, and workshops.
A new feature this year is the Outdoor Dome, a space
dedicated to film and animation where visitors can pause to reflect on
culture and storytelling. In addition to the main festival activities,
optional ticketed experiences will include the Merne Mwerre Bushfood Experience, watercolour masterclasses with artists from Iltja Ntjarra Many Hands Art Centre, and the Desert at Dusk experience at Alice Springs Desert Park.
Several new installations will debut, including The Language of Soaks by Corban Clause Williams, which explores desert waterholes as vital sources of life, and The Language of Goolarrgon Bard by Darrell Sibosado, which interprets traditional Kimberley design in illuminated form. Another installation, The Language of Wati Ngintaka, honours ancestral storytelling traditions connected to the Perentie lizard narrative.
Interactive activations such as Arrernte Voices will
allow visitors to trigger spoken words in the Arrernte language through
illuminated displays. The festival will also offer hands-on workshops in
screen printing, bushfood cooking, textile arts, clay sculpting, and
language learning.
Parrtjima combines culture, art, and landscape to create a unique celebration of Aboriginal heritage in Central Australia.

The Luxe Nomad Invites Guests to Celebrate Songkran in Koh Samui: Thailand's New Year of Ritual and Renewal

The Luxe Nomad Invites Guests to Celebrate Songkran in Koh Samui: Thailand's New Year of Ritual and Renewal
Koh Samui will celebrate Songkran, Thailand’s traditional New Year festival, from 13–15 April, combining spiritual rituals with lively water celebrations across the island. Recently highlighted in HBO’s The White Lotus,
the festival continues to attract international travellers seeking
cultural experiences and warm-weather holidays. In 2025, Songkran
generated 28.7 billion baht (about USD 915 million) in tourism revenue across Thailand, representing a 17% increase year-on-year, while hotel and accommodation bookings in Koh Samui rose by 65% compared to the previous year.
During Songkran, water plays a central symbolic role, representing purification, renewal, and new beginnings.
Traditional activities include cleansing Buddha statues with scented
water, pouring water over elders’ hands to receive blessings, and
building sand pagodas at temples. These rituals mark the spiritual start
of the celebration before the festival transforms into large-scale
street water fights and public festivities.
Guests staying in The Luxe Nomad’s private villas on
Koh Samui during the festival can participate in both cultural and
celebratory experiences. The company offers assistance with temple
visits, local ceremonies, and island activities, as well as small
festive gifts for guests.
For travellers interested in the spiritual side of Songkran, temples such as Wat Plai Laem and Wat Phra Yai,
known for its iconic golden Buddha statue, host traditional
water-pouring ceremonies and merit-making rituals. Nearby luxury villas,
including Panacea Retreat and Ban Kinaree, offer peaceful accommodations close to these cultural sites.
As the day progresses, celebrations move to popular locations such as Chaweng Beach, Bophut Fisherman’s Village, and Lamai, where large public water battles take place. Nearby luxury villas like Sangsuri Estate, Baan Hinta, Baan Hinyai, and Dhevatara Residence Estate provide convenient access to the festivities while maintaining privacy and comfort.
The Luxe Nomad is also offering April Festive Escape promotions, with villa discounts of up to 15–20% for selected stays.
