A Fresh Angle on a Dutch Classic: Tulip Season Takes Flight at Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam

The weeks between late March and early May are a cherished moment in Amsterdam's calendar, with many visitors returning year after year to share the tulip season with family and friends. To offer a fresh perspective on this annual spectacle, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam has expanded its signature Tulips in Bloom collection with new and refreshed experiences.

At the heart of this year's offering is the new Bloomscape by Helicopter, an elevated expression of romance and adventure. The day begins at the Amsterdam Helipad, where guests board a private Airbus H120 for a 45-minute scenic flight over iconic windmills and sweeping bands of colour before touching down amid the blooms in Noordwijkerhout. From there, a private transfer leads to a secluded field set for an intimate dining moment, as an Anantara butler presents a carefully orchestrated gourmet picnic featuring local delicacies such as Dutch caviar with blinis and an Old Dutch cheese sandwich with artisanal Beemster and homemade apple syrup.

The 2026 collection also brings back two guest favourites. Tulip Treats offers a gentle introduction to the season, beginning with a private transfer to the Tulip Museum for an audio tour available in eleven languages. Guests then step into a spectacular show garden, home to four million tulips, before enjoying alfresco tea or coffee with handcrafted tulip shaped cakes. Dreamed up by a local patisserie, the colourful cakes are a visual delight: a velour finished mousse and a jewel bright jelly cup resting on a buttery base.

Meanwhile, Tulip Tableaux is designed as a romantic escape, transporting guests by premium transfer to a private tulip field. Amid rows of vivid blooms, an Anantara butler serves a luxury picnic showcasing local flavours such as light lobster salad with artichoke, grapefruit, tomato and asparagus; Dutch caviar with blini and crème fraîche; and a tulipinspired dessert layered with pear, elderberry, yoghurt and spiced Speculaas biscuits.

Guests may also enhance their stay with the Anantara Spa's signature Black Tulip Radiance Facial, which uses high performance Bloomeffects skincare harnessing antioxidants derived from local tulips, or take home exclusive Anantara Tulip bulbs in a distinctive sunshine gold hue. Developed in partnership with local growers, this unique variety reflects the brand's spirit and can be spotted each spring at Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam and other Anantara properties in Europe.

Bloomscape by Helicopter, spanning 5.5 hours, is priced at EUR 6,499 for two persons. Tulip Treats, 3.5 hours, is EUR 475 for two persons. Tulip Tableaux, 4 hours, is EUR 1,399 for two persons. All experiences are available from late March to early May, with exact bloom times varying each year, and include luxury car transfers and a gift bag from Bloomeffects.

A New Chapter on the Great Barrier Reef: Orpheus Island Lodge Reopening July 2026

Orpheus Island Lodge, part of the Morris Escapes collection and located on the Great Barrier Reef, has announced a major renovation of its North Beachfront accommodation, scheduled for completion with a reopening in July 2026. The lodge is also one of the newest members of Luxury Lodges of Australia, a network representing high-end experiential accommodations across the country.

The renovation project will be led by Dubois, an award-winning Australian architecture and interior design studio that previously designed Morris Escapes’ Pelorus Private Island and Mt Mulligan Lodge. Their redesign will transform the North Beachfront Rooms, Villas, and Suites, which currently represent more than half of the lodge’s total 14-room capacity.
The upgraded accommodation will offer larger interior spaces, higher ceilings, and new furnishings that strengthen the connection between the rooms and the surrounding island environment. Located on the northern side of the main pavilion, the redesigned suites will also allow guests to interconnect rooms and suites, creating larger private villa-style accommodations suitable for families or groups seeking more space and privacy.

The design concept draws inspiration from the Coral Sea landscape, incorporating a coastal colour palette, textured render walls, wooden elements, and custom furnishings made from natural materials. Outdoor areas will also be enhanced with timber decking, lounge seating, and adjustable pergolas with sliding screens, allowing guests to control shade and privacy while enjoying uninterrupted ocean views.

Additional upgrades include redesigned bathrooms featuring bronze tapware, double vanities, and walk-in rain showers, along with expanded indoor living spaces that open directly to private patios.
Sustainability remains a core focus of the project. As an Advanced EcoTourism Australia certified property, Orpheus Island Lodge will prioritize environmentally responsible materials and construction methods aimed at reducing waste and carbon footprint. Landscaping will incorporate native tropical plants from North Queensland.

Lá Sen at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai Announces a Confident New Chapter in Contemporary Vietnamese Dining

Lá Sen, the Vietnamese restaurant at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, has introduced a refined dinner concept that highlights the authenticity of Vietnam’s culinary heritage while presenting it with modern precision and elegance. Rather than reinventing traditional cuisine, the restaurant focuses on preserving authentic recipes, flavours, and cooking techniques, presenting them with careful craftsmanship and contemporary presentation.

According to Executive Chef Heath Gordon, the foundation of every dish lies in Vietnam’s traditional flavour balance of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. Modern techniques such as sous-vide, emulsification, and dehydration are used only when they enhance texture, clarity, or flavour while maintaining the integrity of the original recipe. The guiding principle is the “Vietnamese grandmother test,” meaning a dish must retain its authentic character to be included on the menu.
The menu draws inspiration from Central Vietnam’s coastal landscape, gardens, and food traditions. Signature dishes include Đậu Hũ Non Sốt Nấm, a silken tofu dish paired with a mushroom XO sauce; Cá Tuyết Đen Nướng Lá Chuối, charcoal-grilled black cod marinated with galangal and turmeric; and Gỏi Bưởi, a refined version of the classic pomelo salad combining pomelo and young coconut with a balanced dressing.

Ingredient sourcing emphasizes local provenance and sustainability. Much of the produce is harvested from the resort’s organic garden, which uses coconut compost and seed-saving practices. Additional ingredients come from trusted Vietnamese suppliers, including regional seafood producers and traditional gardens, while select premium imports complement the menu without overshadowing local flavours. Sustainable cooking practices such as root-to-stem and nose-to-tail usage reduce waste.

The dining experience is designed to be immersive and relaxed. An open kitchen allows guests to observe the cooking process, while staff share stories about ingredients, culinary traditions, and regional influences, creating a deeper connection to Vietnamese culture.

Luxury Escapes Drops Epic Kids Fly Free to the Maldives Sale

Luxury Escapes, an Australian luxury travel company, has launched a “Follow the Sun” sale aimed at travellers seeking warm-weather holidays as Australia moves into cooler months. The promotion offers discounted travel packages to tropical destinations such as Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Maldives, with special family-oriented deals and limited-time offers designed to encourage early bookings ahead of peak winter travel demand.

A key highlight of the sale is a “Kids Fly Free” offer to the Maldives, made possible through Luxury Escapes’ exclusive private charter service operated by Maldivian Airlines. This charter marks the first-ever direct flight from Australia to the Maldives, launching in May, which eliminates traditional stopovers and significantly reduces travel time. The packages combine return charter flights with resort accommodation and additional premium inclusions, making the Maldives more accessible for families. Some packages offer savings of over AUD 1,000 per child.

Luxury Escapes co-founder and CEO Adam Schwab explained that the sale reflects a consistent trend among Australians who begin searching for tropical holidays as winter approaches. According to Schwab, families are increasingly interested in destinations like the Maldives, which historically has been associated with honeymoon travel but is now gaining popularity as a family-friendly luxury destination.

The sale also features attractive package deals across Southeast Asia, where Bali, Thailand, and Vietnam remain popular winter getaway choices due to convenient flights, strong value, and diverse luxury resort options.
Examples of Maldives offers include packages at Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives, and Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, with five-night stays that include flights, meals, transfers, and other benefits. Southeast Asian offers include resorts such as Cape Sienna Phuket, AYANA Segara Bali, and Bliss Hoi An Beach Resort, featuring inclusions like meals, spa treatments, and beverages.

The limited-time promotion covers travel periods throughout the upcoming autumn and winter seasons, including school holidays.

About Jack’s Place
Established in 1966, Jack’s Place is the trusted favourite known for its Western food. It all started when Mr. Say Lip Hai arrived in Singapore from Hainan Island and started as a cook boy with the British troops in Sembawang. There he learned how to prepare the perfect roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Having tasted one of Mr Say’s now famous meals, a British housewife suggested he start a catering business with her husband, Jack Hunt, in his pub at Killiney Road, Jack’s Place, which he started in 1966. Mr Say agreed and commenced that partnership in 1968. Shortly afterwards, Jack Hunt sold his share of the business, but his namesake ‘Jack the Chef’ still runs the kitchen today!
Today, Jack’s Place is the trusted favourite for family and friends to enjoy great value sizzling steaks, speciality meals, and sumptuous cakes. Jack’s Place is committed to serving quality food and creating memorable dining experiences in a cheerful and cosy environment for our guests.

Aahaasa Collection Debuts Aavya Cove Villas - Balapitiya, Sri

Aavya Cove Villas, a boutique coastal retreat on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, has recently joined the Aahaasa Collection, a design-focused hospitality brand launched in late 2025. Located in Balapitiya, about 45 minutes north of the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, the property sits within a naturally sheltered cove overlooking the Indian Ocean. With its low-density layout, strong emphasis on design, and focus on privacy, Aavya aims to establish itself as a model for thoughtful and sustainable luxury travel in Sri Lanka.

The name Aavya, meaning “light on water,” reflects the retreat’s philosophy of serenity, natural beauty, and simplicity. The property spans two acres of beachfront and offers 12 private Cove Villas, one Ocean Suite, and a large multi-bedroom Cove Residence. Each accommodation includes landscaped gardens, private terraces, and outdoor living areas designed to create a calm and secluded atmosphere. The gardens were designed by the late Dooland de Silva, a renowned Sri Lankan landscape architect known for his collaboration with Geoffrey Bawa.

Architecturally, the retreat follows a tropical modernist style, blending indoor and outdoor spaces through open courtyards, rain showers, and expansive terraces. The design encourages guests to experience the environment at a relaxed, natural pace.

Wellness plays a central role in the guest experience. The Aarogya Spa and Wellness Centre offers Ayurvedic treatments, aromatherapy, yoga, and meditation programs. Guests can participate in tailored wellness retreats focused on relaxation, detoxification, and holistic health, typically recommended for a minimum four-night stay. Additional facilities include a 23-metre infinity pool and tranquil garden spaces.
Dining is designed to be personal and locally inspired. A team of chefs collaborates with local fishermen and producers to create seasonal menus served in various settings, including the beachfront restaurant, the Aahana Bar, private villas, or outdoor locations. Signature experiences include multi-course Sri Lankan dinners and beach barbecues.
Rates start from approximately USD 550 per night, with introductory offers available.
