Scenic Eclipse Wows on Her Inaugural Voyage to Antarctica

Scenic Eclipse has wowed guests on her inaugural voyage to Antarctica with a rare sighting of Emperor Penguins in the Weddell Sea.
“Snow Hill Island is home to a large rookery of Emperor Penguins”, said Lisa Bolton, GM Product for Scenic Group. “However it is very rare that we get to see them, particularly at this time of year when the sea ice limits access. This really was a once in a lifetime experience for our guests on board”.
As Captain James Griffiths says:
“The Weddell Sea is a stunning part of Antarctica but presents a significantly greater challenge to Expedition ships than the West side of the Peninsular due to the presence of much heavier ice concentrations. Scenic Eclipse was originally only scheduled for a single stop at the Northern part of the Weddell, but on examining the ice charts we realized that we had the opportunity to push the ship South towards Snow Hill Island. During our transit South we spent around twelve hours in the ice where Scenic Eclipse excelled and demonstrated the value of her Polar Code 6 classification, 1A Super Ice Class and unmatched manoeuvrability. I am genuinely excited to see what other amazing opportunities this exceptional ship will give us to show Antarctica to our Guests.”

Villa Markisa in Bali's exclusive Pandawa Cliff Estate boasts stunning ocean views from its enviable vantage point. A stylish home with five spacious bedrooms, its manicured lawns stretch out towards the endless ocean, and a shared sports centre with squash and tennis courts, a relaxing spa and well-equipped gym keeps guests busy while on holiday.
Along the same lines, Selong Selo Resort & Residences offers a break from city life. Tucked into the verdant hillside of southern Lombok, the estate's stunning villas all have private pools and mesmerising ocean views. Away from the hustle and bustle of crowded destinations, Lombok is an untouched land you will love to explore.

Thai-pore Enterprise Announces Special CNY Promotional Price for Hong Yun Lang Baijiu as well as Innovative Baijiu Cocktails and Desserts at
Xi Yan Maxwell

Thai-pore Enterprise Pte Ltd (Thai-pore) – a leading distributor and marketer of premium beers, wines and tobaccos in Southeast Asia – has announced a special Chinese New Year (CNY) promotional price for its Hong Yun Lang range of baijiu which will be available at Xi Yan Maxwell.

Made in China’s Sichuan province, Langjiu draws on the ancient craft of baijiu distillation to produce the highly sought after crystal clear spirit possessing the distiller’s signature “sauce” style baijiu. It is highly fragrant, slightly sour and has forward umami notes similar to soy sauce.

Hong Yun (meaning “good luck” in Mandarin) Lang – a thirty-year aged variety of Langjiu – will be available to Xi Yan Maxwell diners at S$888 per bottle instead of its usual price of S$1,888 per bottle. This discounted price will be available to all diners from 1 January 2020 – 29 February 2020.

Besides the CNY promotional price for its Hong Yun Lang range of baijiu, Xi Yan Maxwell has made several baijiu desserts and cocktails available as part of its permanent menu. These desserts and cocktails include:
Lang 1898: Served refreshingly cold in a bowl that contains a glutinous rice ball, Lang 1898 is an ode to the traditional Chinese dessert called “tangyuan” that consists of glutinous rice balls made from flour served in a sweet, syrupy soup. Xi Yan Maxwell’s interpretation of the dessert is served with a sweet, aged ginger soup infused with Langjiu 10 instead.
Soulmate: A mix of Chambord black raspberry liqueur, cranberry juice, Langjiu-infused syrup, butterfly pea-infused syrup and lemon juice, this fruity baijiu cocktail is a harmonious blend of citrus flavours and the forward umami notes of Langjiu’s signature “sauce” style baijiu.
Calligraphy: A creamy chocolate, hazelnut and coffee-flavoured cocktail that consists of Kahlua, Frangelico, dark chocolate liqueur, Langjiu-infused syrup, Hong Hua Lang 10 and a dash of espresso.

Thai-pore representative Audrey Kuah said, “Although baijiu is the world’s most consumed spirit with 10.8 billion litres sold in China in 2017, it is still a relatively uncommon spirit beyond China’s borders. However, with Singaporeans known for being receptive to new F&B trends and offerings, I am positive that the promotional price for Hong Yun Lang, as well as the inclusion of baijiu cocktails and baijiu-infused desserts on Xi Yan Maxwell’s menu will entice Singaporeans to have their first taste of this traditional Chinese liquor during their Lunar New Year celebrations.”

Thomas Choong, Executive Director of Xi Yan Pte Ltd, added, “Working together with Langjiu enables us to provide our diners with something new and different. We have always prided ourselves with being able to create innovative offerings and are keen to have our guests experience the taste of this traditional Chinese liquor alongside the restaurant’s dishes, and through our Chinese New Year baijiu-infused desserts and cocktails.”

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi Takes Guests Back in Time With Traditional Fishing

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi is delighted to unveil its traditional fish house where generations-old methods are used to catch the freshest fish and shellfish from the Andaman Sea. Designed by a local fisherman and crafted with island-grown wood, the Rumah Ikan Fish House is an inspiring testament to Langkawi's vibrant fishing legacy.
The fishing method practiced at the Fish House is a rare art, one that is fast disappearing as modern, mechanized equipment gains popularity. It involves creating a complex structure that extends out into the sea, using strips and splints of wood. Since last year, the Resort has been working with Pak Din, a local fisherman, to bring back this traditional style of fishing.
“Our ongoing partnership with Pak Din has played a vital role in preserving the precious fishing heritage of Langkawi. Now, with a genuine Fish House at our beach, we're taking things one step further,” explains General Manager David Macklin. “We're very excited to share the island's unique living history with our guests.”
Situated at the Resort's mile-long sweep of pristine coastline, the Fish House and its surroundings transport guests to a simpler, more relaxed era. This secluded spot is where Pak Din spends his days, catching the choicest fish and squid offered by the Andaman Sea. Observe this local maestro as he goes about his work, or try your hand at fishing in the olden ways, using locally sourced equipment.
