Transylvania's New Hotel of Ice Opens 2024-25 Season

The construction of the Hotel of Ice, in the heart of Transylvania has finished, and its doors have now opened for guests and visitors, as scheduled, on Christmas Day 2024.

The remote Hotel of Ice is perched up in the mountains at over 2000m and is only reachable by cable car. It's a musical theme this year, with sculptures of instruments and famous classical composers from Beethoven to Mozart. The Hotel of Ice has 12 standard igloo rooms, which are priced from as little as £85 per night. The hotel has its very own restaurant, which serves delicious 4-course menus from £50, with one course even being served on an ice plate! For those wanting to warm up with a drink and even a dance, there is also an Ice Bar which serves some drinks in, you guessed it, ice glasses. The temperature in the Hotel of Ice is typically around -2 degrees with professional sleeping bags and cosy bedding provided. There is also a Winter Park with various winter activities from snowshoeing, sledding and even a lift which pulls you up the slope in a rubber ring, which you slide back down in!

For those who wish to warm up, there is also a neighbouring chalet with a bar and restaurant. They also have warm accommodation from £50 per night for those who don't wish to brave the cold.
The nearest Airports are Sibiu (75 mins), Brasov (2 hours) and Bucharest (4 hours). Please note there is no public transport to the remote Hotel of Ice from Sibiu, Brasov or Bucharest so visitors need to either hire a car, organise a taxi or join one of the Untravelled Paths tours below which all start/finish in Bucharest and include visiting Dracula's Castle and a stay in the Hotel of Ice.

Bill Bensley to Hold 3-Month Rotating Art Exhibition Series of New Works at Four Seasons Hotel Art Space by Moca Bangkok 10 January - 20 April 2025

Celebrated architect, designer, and artist Bill Bensley returns to the Four Seasons Hotel's Art Space by MOCA Bangkok with a rotating art exhibition featuring three collections from January 10 to April 20, 2025. Inspired by travels across 11 countries, Bensley’s vibrant works focus on supporting environmental conservation and educational programs in Southeast Asia. All proceeds benefit communities in Cambodia and Laos through the Shinta Mani Foundation.

The exhibition includes three themed shows. "New Paintings by Bill Bensley" (January 10-30) showcases landscapes inspired by his travels, funding education for deaf children in Luang Prabang and hospitality training for underprivileged youth in Siem Reap. "The Ring of Fire" (January 31-February 27) highlights natural forces like volcanos and fire, with proceeds supporting basic needs for Siem Reap families. "Call of the Cardamoms" (February 28-April 20) celebrates the endangered species of Cambodia's Cardamom Rainforest, with funds aiding its conservation through partnerships with Wildlife Alliance.

Each collection reflects Bensley’s commitment to philanthropy, environmental preservation, and cultural diversity. His dynamic artworks, priced between $6,000 and $10,000, are available for international purchase via a digital catalog, with flexible shipping options.

Four Seasons Bangkok celebrates Bensley’s dual impact on art and humanitarian causes. Lubosh Barta, the hotel's General Manager, praises his creativity and dedication to meaningful projects. For Bensley, the exhibition is a platform to share his journey and inspire through storytelling and artistry. He envisions the space as a sanctuary for creativity, where visitors connect through the power of imagination while supporting vital causes.
