StayWell Holdings is thrilled to announce that The Prince Akatoki London hotel has been awarded platinum by OPAL (Outstanding Property Award London) for Interior Design.

Recognising the best architecture, interior design, and property development projects from around the world, the OPAL Award recognises the core elements of The Prince Akatoki's design, which brings the nuances of Japanese luxury and hospitality to London. Inspired by the region's aesthetics, every element within the hotel reflects the tranquillity and calming beauty of minimalism, while celebrating the building itself.

Designed by London based interior and branding design company B3 Designers, the property's rooms are designed to be airy, exuding a refreshing softness that relaxes the senses. Bespoke furniture tailor made around the hotel's spaces complements Japanese design principles of simplicity and natural materials. The food and beverage spaces influenced by linearity are multi-functional spaces, with the Malt Bar and Lounge smoothly transitioning from a daytime tearoom to evening whisky bar.

A sanctuary in the heart of London, The Prince Akatoki is situated in an idyllic locale, surrounded by specialty boutiques and Georgian homes and just a short distance from Oxford Street, Hyde Park, and Mayfair.

Specialists in hospitality, including hotels, restaurants, and bars, B3 Designers were briefed by StayWell Holdings to refurbish the previously existing hotel with a focus on bringing Japanese design and hospitality ideals to the West End. The company designed the interiors and branding for the hotel's rooms, public areas (reception, sanctuary, communal workspace, corridors, lift lobby), and its F&B offers - TOKii, and The Malt Lounge & Bar.

Travelling in a Post-Pandemic World - New Instabook Challenges Us to Do Better

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the global travel industry to a complete standstill, and it is unlikely to ever be the same again. While reflecting on how this interruption would impact the future of tourism, author, entrepreneur and philanthropist  Bruce Poon Tip has concluded that despite the hardships being presented to many of us, we have been given the gift of reshaping how we travel in the future.

Unlearn: The Year the Earth Stood Still is a free, short 'instabook' (e-book) written by Bruce while in isolation during April 2020. It is designed to be a letter to all who love to travel, to inspire them to continue to dream of travelling, but to also reimagine how they can emerge from this pandemic with a renewed sense of purpose and accountability when selecting their next holiday.

“This pandemic has created the largest startup economy ever seen as we all go into hibernation and wait until we can travel again – and we must travel again. But we can do it better. We can rethink everything we thought was normal. Why fight so damn hard to return to normal when the opportunity to transform travel is on the other side of this mess. This is about you…it's about me…it's about everyone.”
- Bruce Poon Tip

In this new book, Bruce explains why he believes we don't have to go back to how things were; that we should challenge ourselves to make better choices on the other side of this pandemic.
Unlearn: The Year the Earth Stood Still is now available for download on Apple Books, Amazon and Kobo.
