New to InterContinental Hong Kong's Culinary Team: TIJN BREMMERS Executive Sous Chef
Tijn Bremmers has recently joined InterContinental Hong Kong as Executive Sous Chef. With 15 years of culinary experience across five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants, he is eager to work with the hotel's Food & Beverage team to delight guests with creative dining concepts & menus.
In fact, reinventing concepts and creating imaginative menus were part of his main responsibilities at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok where he helmed its 12 outlets as Executive Sous Chef for two years. From gourmet canapés for exclusive events to luxurious buffet spreads for Thai New Year, Chef Tijn was in charge of ensuring top quality and aesthetics in all dining experiences.
What excites Tijn most as a chef? “Over the past five years I have overseen the culinary operations for many big events; and I love to express my true creativity when designing the special menus.  Since every event is different in size and theme, it's constantly exciting and challenging. I also love to incorporate the techniques, skills and passion I have learned throughout my career at fine dining restaurants into my dishes and to inspire my team.”
Discover Zen at Four Seasons Resorts Thailand This New Year
If Thailand is on the bucket-list to discover “zen” this New Year, guests should look no further than Four Seasons Resorts Thailand. The perfect time to unwind, slow down and begin the year on a rejuvenating mode, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, and Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offer unique experiences aimed at improving wellbeing, while channelling the inner zen to prepare for the year ahead.
Promising an adventure of a lifetime in the wondrous natural surroundings of Northern Thailand, bordering Myanmar and Laos, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is the perfect escape from the hum-drum of day-to-day life. Offering a memorable experience for the entire family, the Camp is a perfect balance of nature and culture, adventure and relaxation, luxury and austerity.
“With just 15 tents and one two-bedroom Explorer's Lodge, patchy WiFi and no in-room television – guests have no choice but to detox - digitally, mentally and emotionally,” smiles Camp Manager Tobias Emmer, adding, “Expect to hear birdsong from the spa, cicadas humming at night, frogs calling, and even an elephant or two chatting in the distance! If you wake up early enough one morning, you can soak in the thick fog banks as they wash away to reveal the lush bamboo jungle just a few feet away.”
Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen Launches a Wellness Journey of Self-Discovery in an Urban Oasis
The world is speeding up and many are eager to slow down to find balance in this haste. Guests at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen are invited to tap into their full potential of living well, both physically and spiritually, through the Hotel's lifestyle program, which hinges on the mantra “be you.”
The program focuses on the overall concept of wellness as a state of mind. Reconnecting with oneself, bringing the body back to balance, self-care and mindfulness; a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.
Working with a team of experts both internally and from the outside, the Hotel has developed the program with the notion that wellness starts from taking care of oneself, debunking the stereotype that it is solely about eating healthy and exercising.
The launch invites guests to “tune out and tune in to oneself” with a suite of experiences and activities that let the mind take a break from the everyday stress and regain "Chi" - whether cooking up a new recipe, learning how to paint or even simply trying out a different exercise routine.

At the Detroit Zoo, the Devereaux Tiger Forest is now open after a major expansion and renovation to the former habitat. Amur tigers Nikolai and Aleksei, 2-year-old brothers, have joined 16-year-old female Kisa, in the new digs. Several unique observation and photo opportunity areas have been added.
Embrace All Things Winter
Detroit transforms into a winter wonderland during Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekend February 7-9 in Campus Martius Park. Stroll through an ice sculpture garden, learn to ski and snowboard, enjoy roasted marshmallows, a polar plunge, live music, a food truck rally, winter slide, zip line and free ice skating. For more frozen fun, visit the Aqua Freeze Festival on Lake St. Clair's Nautical Mile in St. Clair Shores, Feb. 8.
