Encounter the Exotic as Za Za Ta Spices Up the Valley

Za Za Ta, a Middle Eastern inspired bar and kitchen, will open within The Emporium precinct in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley as part of designer hotel, Ovolo, in August 2019.
Paying homage to the spice blend za’atar, The Valley’s latest venue is a place where guests will experience a rich mix of soulful and dynamic Middle Eastern cuisine. The menu will showcase a playful and bold take on dishes from across the region alongside a curated collection of cocktails, spirits, and wines, crafted to entice.
Spearheading the Za Za Ta kitchen is Israeli-born executive chef Roy Ner (ex-Nour and Aria, NSW) and head chef, Dario Manca (ex-Pilu at Freshwater, NSW). Ner has a life-long passion for food and is drawing inspiration from his birthplace and surrounding region.
The 200-seat venue sprawls into multiple rooms, each with its individual purpose of charm, buzz and personality. The design of Za Za Ta has been inspired by the conservatories of the Victorian era, with nooks reminiscent of 1940s cocktail cabinet.
Ner and Manca have designed a shared style menu of traditional Israeli dishes across brunch, lunch and dinner. The menu will be broken into nibbles, small plates, a raw section, large plates and sides. All bread, dips, charucterie and cheese will be made in-house and showcased in a refined, yet approachable way. A late-night menu will take full swing from 11pm serving ‘midnight street food’ style snacks inspired by the eclectic dining scene of Tel Aviv after dark.

Za Za Ta will feature a curated collection of colonial-inspired rums and playful cocktails mixed, muddled and infused with spices originating in the famed markets of Tel Aviv & Jaffa. Spearheaded by Jared Thibault, Director of Food and Beverage Ovolo The Valley, the cocktail program will use fresh cold pressed juices in addition to local market citrus fruits and Middle Eastern botanicals. The wine list will feature a mixture of Middle Eastern, French, Italian and local wines (biodynamic, organic and skin contact) in addition to craft beers completing the recipe for a buzzing social setting rich in character and charm.

More Tourists to Choose Maitland Thanks to NSW Government Funding

Next time you're considering a NSW getaway, Make it Maitland – that's the message of the NSW Government's latest tourism marketing campaign, in partnership with Maitland City Council.
Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said the campaign, which launched on Wednesday 5 June, primarily targets singles and couples aged 35 to 55 years residing in Sydney, as well as those who live two to four hours' drive from Maitland.
“The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, is proud to contribute $100,000 to the Make it Maitland campaign, which will be matched dollar for dollar by Maitland City Council,” Mr Ayres said.
Maitland City Council's Mayor Loretta Baker said, “Maitland has such a unique story to tell. With our rich history, engaging local characters, strong creative culture, quality food offering and fantastic events we should be telling a wider audience and this campaign is going to do that for us.
“The Make it Maitland campaign is a great opportunity for local businesses and residents to get involved and share the word on social media about how vibrant our city really is.”
The campaign leverages the Make it Maitland brand which is Maitland City Council's new destination brand identity and will incorporate the existing #mymaitland social media hashtag.
The campaign is funded through the State Government's Regional Tourism Fund (RTF) which offers funding for marketing and product development support activities between $100,000 and $500,000 to invest, which is matched dollar-for-dollar by Destination NSW.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to Introduce New Ramada by Wyndham Hotel to South Australia

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world's largest hotel franchisor and leading provider of hotel management services, has expanded its footprint in South Australia with the signing of Ramada by Wyndham Playford, a stylish new property planned for the heart of Adelaide's booming north.

Construction on the circa $90 million development is scheduled to commence in October this year, with the hotel's opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. The site is within easy walking distance of the Civic Centre and Shedley Theatre, Prince George Plaza, Grenville Hub and Playford Arena. The hotel will operate as a Ramada under an agreement between Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and property owner, Playford City Hotel Pty Ltd.

Upon opening, Ramada Playford will boast a collection of 205 well-appointed rooms and impressive facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, restaurant and sports bar, along with meeting and conference spaces. It will become the first Ramada hotel in South Australia.

The hotel will operate under a license agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, which operates almost 150 hotels across the Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim region. It will be managed by Resort Management by Wyndham, an Australian hotel management subsidiary of Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific.

NASA Opens International Space Station to New Commercial Opportunities, Private Astronauts

NASA is opening the International Space Station for commercial business so U.S. industry innovation and ingenuity can accelerate a thriving commercial economy in low-Earth orbit.
This move comes as NASA focuses full speed ahead on its goal of landing the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024, where American companies also will play an essential role in establishing a sustainable presence.
NASA will continue research and testing in low-Earth orbit to inform its lunar exploration plans, while also working with the private sector to test technologies, train astronauts and strengthen the burgeoning space economy. Providing expanded opportunities at the International Space Station to manufacture, market and promote commercial products and services will help catalyze and expand space exploration markets for many businesses.
The agency's ultimate goal in low-Earth orbit is to partner with industry to achieve a strong ecosystem in which NASA is one of many customers purchasing services and capabilities at lower cost.
NASA's plan addresses both the supply-side and demand-side for a new economy, enabling use of government resources for commercial activities, creating the opportunity for private astronaut missions to the space station, enabling commercial destinations in low-Earth orbit, identifying and pursuing activities that foster new and emerging markets, and quantifying NASA's long-term demand for activities in low-Earth orbit.
